The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) released a video of alleged abuse of Tennesse Walking horses in March of 2012. A video that was produced a year before its release. Why? Did they do it to protect the horses? What was the intent?
Coke was served at the Celebration SHOW for Tennessee Walking Horses in Chattanooga Tennessee. Why? And what makes the difference? Big deal? You bet! On July 20,2012, Pepsi’s Marketing Director, Richard Kaplan, gave $5000.00 to the Humane Society Legislative fund ((HSLF) a Lobbying Group). Wayne Pacelle, CEO and President of HSUS, is the HSLF Executive Vice President. Not only did Mr. Kaplan of Pepsi give to the HSLF AND so did his wife Peggy Kokernot Kaplan, who is on the Board of Directors of the Humane Society of the United States’ National Council. In March, the very same month the video by HSUS was released, Pepsi removed itself from sponsoring the Tennesse Walking Horse Celebration in Chattanooga Tennessee.
Why would Pepsi have anything to do with an “animal welfare” organization? Maybe it has something to do with placing Representatives that will vote toward HSUS/Pepsi/Toyota/PICKENS bills into the House of Representatives, Congress and the White House.
On December 23,2010 Pepsi granted $250,000 to HSUS even though in the “official application guidelines, it strictly states that applications cannot to any degree “challenge, lobby for or seek to change current laws, or enact any new laws.” Pepsi MAX, the National Football League (NFL) and the NFLPA (NFL Players, Inc.) have teamed up to bring fans the Pepsi MAX NFL Rookie of the Week, a program through which fans can vote for a stand-out Rookie each week of the 2012 NFL regular season. “President Obama praised the owner of the Philadelphia Eagles for giving Michael Vick a second chance, a media report says. For Michael Vick, the comments add to a charmed season.” Michael Vick is the person that served 18 months in federal prison. Vick was charged with conspiracy to travel in interstate commerce in aid of unlawful activities and to sponsor a dog in an animal fighting venture. Just after his release, HSUS hired him and placed him in a position to teach school children about dogs.
Mrs. Nooyi assumed the role of Chairman on May 2, 2007 at PepsiCo and serves as a member of the boards of U.S.-China Business Council, U.S.-India Business Council and was appointed to the U.S.-India CEO Forum by the Obama Administration. PepsiCo’s CEO Indra Nooyi is a vegetarian from India.
Nooyi has directed the company’s global strategy for more than a decade and led PepsiCo’s restructuring, including the 1997 divestiture of its restaurants into Tricon, now known as Yum! Brands. Tyson Foods supplies all Yum! Brands ( OWNED BY PEPSICO) chains that use chicken (including KFC and Taco Bell), as well as McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s, Wal-Mart, Kroger, IGA, Beef O’Brady’s, small restaurant businesses, and prisons. Tyson Foods Ltd. Is India’s premier poultry and vegetarian products manufacturer and marketer.
It appears that Mrs. Nooyi made some friends and struck a deal with the Toyota Corporation. It was announced in November of 2010 that the Toyota Center in Houston hosts events for the Houston Rockets, Houston Aeros, rock concerts, family shows, Christmas pageants and private functions. “Toyota has signed a multi-year renewal with Kroenke Sports Enterprises for the naming rights to several car parks surrounding the Pepsi Center. Under terms of the three-year extension, Toyota will continue to hold the rights to label the 20,000-capacity arena’s six different car parks after various Toyota car brand names.”
The Toyota Green Initiative is an environmental stewardship platform designed to empower people to adopt a sustainable lifestyle… We’re working with educators, Historically Black Colleges Universities (HBCUs) and environmental nonprofits. ” Toyota has been a leader in environmentally friendly vehicle technologies, most notably the RAV4 EV (produced from 1997 to 2003) and the Toyota Prius (1997 to present). Toyota is now working on their next generation Prius and second generation RAV4 EV both due out in 2012.” Toyota is a leader in environmentally friendly (hybrid) cars that use batteries made from rare earth metals.
“American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, signed into law on February 17, 2009, by President Barack Obama, focused more on green infrastructure than personal transportation incentives. The act did allocate money, however, to equip government agencies with more efficient vehicles, created a grant program for diesel owners wishing to outfit their cars with cleaner burning technology, and added a significant tax incentive program for plug-in hybrids.” ”… $6 billion for renewable energy and electric transmission technologies loan guarantees, $400 million for electric vehicle technologies, $300 million for state and local governments to purchase energy efficient vehicles, $300 million to acquire electric vehicles for the federal vehicle fleet (GSA), $190 million in funding for wind, hydro, and other renewable energy projects etc. Energy efficiency and renewable energy research and investment totaled $27.2 Billion. Loans and investments into green energy technology are a significant part of the final bill.” China owned 28.3% of the wind turbine manufacturers in 2011.
Rare earth metals are found in China, India and California is set to re-open a mining plant in 2012. The Prius (made by Toyota) is “the biggest user of rare earths of any object in the world.” according to Jack Lifton. Chinas controls around 95 percent of the world’s production of the metals, which are used when manufacturing a wide range of military (guided missiles), commercial, wind power, electric cars and personal electronics.
In 2010, China announced that it would reduce exports of rare earths. ”China offers major support to its mining industry in the form of subsidies; the industry has, at its disposal, cheap labor as well. The Chinese have realized a complete monopoly in this field by manipulating the economics of business: they have made products available at very cheap rates in the international market, which has indirectly led to other countries losing interest in the business. Now, with the major market share in the hand, the Chinese can afford to control the market.” In July of 2010, Toyota announced that they invested around USD 100 million in India to manufacture engines and transmissions for their upcoming Etios model. .” India is also planning to increase its output [of rare earths] three times over by 2017. In India’s case, rather than competing with China for a slice of the REE [rare earths] exports pie, it is important to remain self-sufficient to cater to the requirements of its domestic industry.”
“Requiring higher fuel efficiency is part of the Obama administration’s plan to reduce oil imports and limit air pollution. U.S. automakers agreed to the rules last year. “They’re not trying to make regulations go away. They know the government can help consumers,” EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson said Tuesday, referring to the administration’s dialogue with domestic car manufacturers. She also estimated that the 2017-to-2025 rules will ultimately reduce greenhouse-gas emissions by up to six billion metric tons. For that reason, the auto rules have proven popular among environmentalists, a key constituency for the president.”
August 28, 2012, President Barack Obama announced an amended version of the “54.5” mpg CAFE standard for 2017-2025. The final ruling was amended to add natural gas vehicles into the list of incentivized advanced-tech cars including those utilizing plug-in hybrid and all-electric plug-in technologies. “Actual drilling and production of natural gas may negate many of the reductions in CO2 emissions.” “Air pollution, radioactivity, and fracking induced earth quakes, are all concerns of anti-fracking individuals and groups.”
USDA secretary Tom Vilsack, who hired Sarah L. Conant, a HSUS lawyer that was hired by the USDA as director of Animal Plant Health Inspection Service enforcement , was appointed by President Obama and backs the President 100%. “Speaking on the nationally syndicated radio program AgriTalk recently, Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack said that if the federal wind energy Production Tax Credit (PTC) is not extended, “that’s going to cost a lot of jobs in rural America. We need to not only continue focusing on biofuels, but renewable energy as well.” What President Obama and Tom Vilsack forget to tell everyone is where the money is going to be transferred to. Maybe not oil, but money to India and China for those rare earths to produce those gas saving cars.
And who does this benefit either way? T. Boone Pickens, Billionaire Energy and Wind Power Investor and Author of the Pickens Plan For Sustainable Energy. “Since 2008, T. Boone Pickens, the billionaire chairman of BP Capital LLC, has spent more than $70 million promoting his “Pickens Plan,” an energy plan aimed at helping America attain oil independence through the use of natural gas, wind and solar energy. He is lobbying for a congressional bill that would make trucking companies run on natural gas instead of gasoline, a move that would provide a boost to his investment in Clean Fuels Energy, which provides natural gas as alternative fuel to vehicles, and runs fueling stations.” Carl Pope, executive director of the Sierra Club, has expressed support for the Pickens Plan.
“….the Ruby Pipeline, a gigantic project to transport natural gas from Wyoming to Oregon while slicing through five separate [horse] herd areas. The 42 inch pipe would require a six foot trench nearly 700 miles long and a parallel, all-weather access road through land that has no roads. As it turns out, one of the largest users of the pipeline will be BP [owner T. Boone Pickens].”
So how does Mr. Pickens propose to get his plan going with wild horse herds getting in the way? He sends out his wife, Madeleine Pickens, to form a non-profit “Saving America’s Mustangs” “a strong ally of The Humane Society of the United States.” Mrs. Pickens “buys” 14,000 acres in NE Nevada which was announced on Nov 8 2010. “Elko County Commission… Warren Russel worried about Pickens wanting to buy additional water rights, although Pickens said she had no interest” when Mrs. Pickens wanted to use the land for her “eco-sanctuary.” It might be of interest that T. Boone Pickens is highly invested in the Clean Fuels Energy and “If water is the new oil, T. Boone Pickens is a modern-day John D. Rockefeller. Pickens owns more water than any other individual in the U.S. and is looking to control even more. He hopes to sell the water he already has, some 65 billion gallons a year, to Dallas, transporting it over 250 miles, 11 counties, and about 650 tracts of private property.”
“Water usage concerns have arisen at times in other countries in which PepsiCo operates. In the U.S., water shortages in certain regions resulted in increased scrutiny on the company’s production facilities, which were cited in media reports as being among the largest water users in cities facing drought.. In response, the company formed partnerships with non-profit organizations such as the Earth Institute and Water.org”
Jonathan Lovvorn is senior vice president for Animal Protection Litigation & Investigations, and also serves as Chief Counsel to the Animal Protection Litigation section for HSUS who is being sued by Ringling Brothers for RICO charges regularly lectures at Columbia University. January 22 2008, the Earth Institute at Columbia University received a $6 million boost today with the announcement of a new grant from the PepsiCo Foundation to. Targeted solutions towards more efficient water use and sustainable supply development will be explored in critical settings in India, Brazil, China and several countries in Africa.
On April 20, 2012 “The HSUS praises the BLM for its decision to support philanthropist and wild horse advocate Madeleine Pickens’ proposal to create an eco-sanctuary for America’s mustangs. The BLM announced on Thursday that it will conduct an environmental analysis of the proposed eco-sanctuary on 14,000 acres in NE Nevada.”” The HSUS is currently working in partnership with the BLM on a landmark study, financed by a grant from the Annenberg Foundation[$327,000 in 2010], designed to determine the efficacy and cost-benefits of using the immunocontraception vaccine commonly known as porcine zona pellucida (PZP) to manage wild horse and burro populations on the range. PZP was recently registered by the Environmental Protection Agency under the brand name ZonaStat-H for this use.” PZP is owned by the HSUS, registered as a pesticide and the HSUS makes money from the application. PZP contraceptive research and applications are funded by the Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Navy, the National Institutes of Health, and the U.S. Department of Commerce etc. To stop the BLM from castrating horses instead of using PZP,” Conservationists and wild-horse activists are suing the United States’ government over its plans to castrate hundreds of horses in eastern Nevada, hoping to block the implementation of a precedent-setting plan to regulate wild-horse populations.”
September 15, 2012 Energy tycoon Pickens backs Romney. In an interview with CNBC, Pickens said Romney is ‘better suited’ to deal with the increasingly grave energy problem in the United States, according to Consumer Energy Report. Wind energy can be stored by pumping water uphill when the wind is blowing, and then releasing it through turbine generators when the electricity is needed. Tennessee Valley Authority (government) Raccoon Mountain Pumped-Storage Plant near Chattanooga, TN is just one example of many such installations that already exist in the US.
Which might be the reason why…..
Eric Stewart, opponent to Rep. Scott DesJarlais, has as an endorser the Sierra Club, a well-known environmental political lobbying group. Michael Brune, executive director of the Sierra Club and Wayne Pacelle, HSUS CEO and President, have worked together on many issues including Prop.2 , hen cages in CA and now it appears they worked together against the Tennessee Walking Horse industry to promote Eric Stewart into the U.S. House seat for District 4 in Tennessee. The Sierra Club’s federal candidate endorsement list reads exactly like that of the Humane Society Legislative Fund’s including endorsing Barack Obama who has passed into law over 50% of the Humane Society of the United States’ 100 point agenda.
On August 22, 2012, U.S. Rep. Scott DesJarlais wrote to U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack about problems between the Tennessee Walking Horse industry and the USDA with a list of very suspicious problems with inspections requesting a meeting. Tom Vilsack, the Secretary of Agriculture, who hired Sarah L. Conant, a HSUS lawyer that was hired by the USDA as director of Animal Plant Health Inspection Service enforcement. Life-long animal lovers, T. Boone and Madeleine Pickens earned national attention by funding the airlift rescue of stranded cats and dogs after Hurricane Katrina where the HSUS made off with unexplained millions of donations. “Pickens lobbied for the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act HR 503 (A USDA/ HSUS program) which would prohibit the slaughter for human consumption and the trade and transport of horse flesh and live horses intended for human consumption.” American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act promotes the abuse of horses. HSUS and Mr. Pickens seem to prefer to see horses suffering than to put them out of their misery. Since the enactment of the Horse Slaughter Prevention Act, the lucky horses are shipped to Mexico where there are no guidelines for humane slaughter.
On May 16, 2012, the HSLF showed a disbursement of $1000.00 to the Christie Vilsack campaign. Christie Vilsack made an announcement that she did not accept the funds from HSLF. HOWEVER!, nowhere in the HSLF FEC filings does it show a return of the money from Christie Vilsack. As an added bonus to the Christie Vilsack campaign, she is fortunate enough to have her husband, Tom Vilsack the Secretary of Agriculture, working on her campaign and donating money to it along with many USDA employees according to her FEC Filing for the Christine Vilsack for Congress Campaign. Since then, HSLF has spent over $750,000.00 to defeat Christie Vilsack’s opponent, Steve King, who has been very outspoken about the lies that HSUS spreads.
