Bouncing, Checks

It’s what they do that is important as well as what they say.

What did they say AKC “Jim Holt said: …we also strongly oppose efforts to redefine all dog breeding as commercial activity and to undermine the essential amateur and hobbyist status of the sport of purebred dogs.” (USDA Animal Welfare Listening Session, March 23, 2005)”

What did they doAKC issued a press release supporting PAWS – a bill that is exactly what Mr. Holt warned against just two months earlier. Worse yet, the HSUS and DDAL (Doris Day Animal League) issued similar press releases on the same day. At that point, the AKC board had not yet voted to support PAWS and the delegate body hadn’t even been told that PAWS was in the works.”

What did they say “Since the rule was first proposed in May 2012, the AKC has worked to educate USDA/APHIS about responsible breeders and dog owners and the potential impact of this rule change, unfortunately many important concerns have not been fully addressed”

What did they do “The AKC is studying the final rule and potential impacts carefully, and seeking clarifications where needed. We will continue to consider a variety options should further action be necessary to protect the rights of responsible breeders.”

What did they sayThe AKC does not oppose the general concept of reasonable regulations for high volume breeder/retailers. However, the PUPS bill is misleading because such regulations would hurt responsible small breeders who raise only a few litters of puppies each year in their homes, while also reducing the availability of resources needed to enforce against abusive or negligent operations…” (THIS IS CALLED A WISHY-WASHY POSITION TO MISLEAD.)

WHAT DO YOU THINK THEY ARE GOING TO DO ABOUT PUPS? REMEMBER, IT’S BABY STEPS AND HALF-VICTORIES. DON’T GIVE UP, CONTACT THE AKC UNTIL THE CHECK IS IN THE BANK AND CLEARED!

AKC makes their money off of registrations, entry fees for dogs at AKC shows, spectator fees to watch an AKC show, handlers showing their dogs in advertisements called AKC shows on television, sponsors of those Televised AKC shows, health testing, pet products, AKC breed clubs, sales of dogs, etc. etc..  These USDA/APHIS regulations affect everyone!

SUBJECT LINE: USDA/APHIS FEDERAL INJUNCTION

Then either copy and paste  the letter below or one that you write yourself:

Dear AKC Board of Directors:

I not only ask as a pet owner/breeder/citizen but I INSIST that you file a federal injunction against USDA/APHIS to stop this invasion of private property, safeguard the rights of breeders, protect the right to own a dog, and ensure that our children will enjoy the company of a dog/cat/hamster/gerbil or any other “regulated” species!

Thank you,
